On Tuesday, November 27th, giving will have it’s opening day with #GivingTuesday. #GivingTuesday is a special call to action, culminating with a new national day of giving around the annual shopping and spending season and to inspire giving every day.

The day is named after a brave 14 year old girl named Malala Yousafzai. Malala began speaking out about the importance of education for girls in Pakistan when she was 11 years old. Three years later she was shot in the head by the Taliban for this very reason. Malala is recovering from her injury, but has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of her. Today we stand for her and the 32 million girls around the world who are denied an education simply because they are girls. (via Saved Sister: Malala Day - Standing for Girls Around the World)
