I think this is a wonderful movement, that we all need to be a part of, proudly. As a fellow blogger said, “most importantly women need to help other women.” I could not agree more. I have witnessed and been apart of the “wars”. We all need to STOP fighting for power, STOP being greedy, STOP being possessive , STOP yelling “mine”, and START sharing, working together, and be a TEAM. We could accomplish world’s more if we just took a step back and realize that we don’t “own” a certain niche or cause; we are working towards the same goal and have the same powerful and unstoppable motivation. WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER. We have the SAME CAUSE. We are stronger TOGETHER. Do you hear me? TOGETHER. (via The Pearl in the Oyster: International Women’s Day- What are you proud of?)

All this month, the UN Foundation has been working with a social good app called Charity Miles to help raise money through exercise. It’s called the #VDay10K and it’s a brilliant campaign to help those who need it while we run or ride a bike! (via The Pearl in the Oyster: Exercise for a good cause!)

Through an amazing non profit called KaBOOM!, you have the chance to win some playground equipment for your community! (via The Pearl in the Oyster: Win playground equipment for your community)

Not what you were expecting to read, was it? Yet it’s true. Over 800 million people worldwide do not have access to clean and safe water. Something we use way too much of every single day here in the US. According to WaterAid, an organization that helps provide water to people in developing countries; 2000 children a day die because they cannot reach water. (via The Pearl in the Oyster: What 800 million people don’t have access to…)

In a world where not everyone is guaranteed a safe birth, medical attention, insurance, or testing; this organization is so important for mothers who are trying to have a safe and healthy birth. (via The Pearl in the Oyster: Support mothers in Uganda)

Thankfully there is an organization that helps those families with nothing. The World Food Program was created to help families who have suffered an immense loss and cannot provide food for their family. When I was reading their mission statement, my eyes got wide when I read one of the very last lines on the webpage:

What an awful tragedy, that a woman would lose her life while bringing a new life into the world. There is a organization that has dedicated all it’s power into preventing such a thing from happening. Maternity Worldwide wants to see a world where “every mother, wherever she lives, is able to give birth safely and without fear.” (via The Pearl in the Oyster: The best gift of all: saving a live for Christmas)

By accepting this position, I hope to further my networking and by doing so, to save lives. My passion is newborns and newborn health. I want to reach every new mother out there and let them know about pulse ox and how it DOES save lives.

Mother to a three year old rambunctious boy named Colton and an angel in heaven named Corbin. After passing a law in her state of WV in honor of Corbin that requires all newborns to be screening for heart defects, Ruth spends her spare time advocating for pulse ox, heart defects, and newborn screening. She hopes that by educating parents about pulse ox that no newborns will ever go home with undetected heart defects.
