One of the great things about living in Salem is the amount of parks we have. 47 parks, plus school playgrounds that aren’t designated as parks, plus 20 undeveloped park properties. Needless to say, we have a lot of choices when it comes to where we are going to play that day, and we are very lucky to have such a wide choice. (via KaBOOM! Playground Love Contest)

So enters Kaboom, who wants to help our kids. And this month, they are having a contest. You can post photos of a playground you love for a chance to win some toys. (via Bring back play and playgrounds for children~with Kaboom)

Unstructured play is one of the best parts of my kids’ day. And playing outside is at the top of the list. My kids love playing with the dogs, climbing trees, exploring nature, and riding their bikes. We have one playground in town where they love to spend their time during the spring and summer months. But many children don’t have that luxury. Many parents struggle to find safe playgrounds for their children to play in. (via Mommy Maestra: KaBOOM! It Starts With a Playground)

When my son was younger, it wasn’t possible to walk past a playground (indoors and out) without stopping for at least a few minutes. Heck, we couldn’t even go to the zoo without having some playground time and good chunks of our day at the state fair was devoted to the playground. But not every child has a playground at every corner. That is where KaBOOM! is stepping in. (via It Starts With A Playground: KaBOOM! Creates Safe Playspaces)

Right now, Kaboom! is hosting a contest on their Facebook page. You can submit a picture of your favorite playground and be entered to win great outdoor toys. (via Heartfelt Balance | Handmade Life: Show Kaboom! Your Favorite Park/Playground for a Chance to Win)

Remember when you were a kid in school and your favorite part of the day was recess, when you’d conquer the monkey bars and swing as high as the sky? After school you’d race home to play catch in the yard, shoot hoops at the basketball court, or meet friends in the park. Playing outside with friends was once the highlight of my day, so its difficult to understand why today’s children play less than any generation before them! (via KaBOOM! Why is Playing Outside so Important?)

KaBOOM! is all about kids and play. They are a nonprofit that focuses on creating playspaces for children in the United States. Their goal is to end “The Play Deficit” caused by lack of playgrounds and more screen time and less movement time. (via Kids Play with KaBOOM and Facebook Contest - BrainFoggles)

I was very excited to find out about Kaboom!, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the United States dedicated to saving play for children. They have served over 6 million kids through building, improving or opening more than 14,000 playgrounds. (via Crazy Casa K: Kaboom!’s Playground Love Contest!)

One of my favorite things about our neighborhood is this great park we have within walking distance. It has a playground, a kiddie pool, a fishing spot, scenic walking paths and more! We are truly blessed to have such an awesome, free resource in our community and it is easy to overlook the fact that many people do not have a place like ours.
